Based in Freshfields’ Washington, DC office, Tom appears regularly before the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
He often represents clients in Hart-Scott-Rodino Act reviews of mergers and acquisitions, and in civil and criminal antitrust investigations of alleged anticompetitive conduct.
Tom handles a full range of antitrust issues, including intellectual property agreements, distribution arrangements, joint ventures and competitor collaborations, and premerger notification requirements in the United States and abroad.
Tom is known for his work in dozens of different industries. This extremely broad range includes aerospace, aggregates, agriculture, air cargo, biotechnology, counterterrorism products, dairy, defense, distilled spirits, explosives, healthcare and hospitals, life sciences, medical devices, medical imaging, parking, pharmaceuticals, private equity, satellite telecommunications, semiconductors, stock exchange, timber and vitamins.
Tom actively participates in the American Bar Association’s leadership. He’s currently vice chair of the Programs and Teleseminars Committee and editor of the ABA Antitrust Section’s practice guide Proving Antitrust Damages (second edition).
